The Upstate Community Hospital Cancer Center renovation brought a new level of excellence and continuity to cancer care in the region through its affiliation with the renowned SUNY Upstate Cancer Center in downtown Syracuse. The project redefined the existing facility to align with the brand’s identity, clinical standards, and patient experience, creating a cohesive extension of the Upstate Cancer Care network. The renovated center provides state-of-the-art infusion spaces, consultation rooms, and support areas that prioritize both medical practice and emotional well-being. Inspired by WELL Building principles, the renovation integrates design strategies that promote health, comfort, and calm throughout the patient journey. Natural light, soothing color palettes, and nature-based artwork foster a restorative atmosphere, while materials were carefully selected for their low-emitting and sustainable properties to enhance indoor air quality. Independent lighting and temperature controls, ergonomic seating, and acoustically balanced environments support both patient comfort and staff focus.
