MEXICO ACADEMY & CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT
The Mexico Academy and Central School District undertook a comprehensive program of additions and renovations across multiple campuses to enhance learning environments while preserving the local history. At the historic High School, the project celebrated the building’s legacy through careful restoration of its exterior facade, original grand staircase, library and murals along with full renovation of the auditorium, locker rooms and pool. A new science classroom wing was constructed to expand STEM opportunities, complemented by upgrades to the gymnasium and cafeteria to better support student wellness and community events. The campus exterior saw major enhancements as well, including the installation of a new outdoor athletic track, a synthetic-turf football field, tennis courts and new grandstands—creating a revitalized venue for school athletics and community gatherings that supports student pride and year-round physical activity.
At the Middle School, the district invested in a new gymnasium designed to accommodate both physical education and after-school programs, while also renovating the district offices, updating classroom spaces for improved technology integration and accessibility and converting the former gymnasium into a performing arts auditorium space. Art classrooms were also renovated to create inspiring and flexible studio spaces. Work at the elementary schools focused on critical infrastructure improvements, including energy-efficient HVAC upgrades, conversion of lighting to LED systems, and roof replacements to extend the life of the buildings. Collectively, these projects represent the district’s commitment to preserving its historic facilities while creating modern, sustainable, and inclusive spaces that support future generations of learners.
