CLIFTON-FINE HOSPITAL EXPANSION
The Clifton-Fine Hospital expansion in Star Lake, New York represents a transformative milestone in the facility’s evolution from a Critical Access Hospital to a newly designated Rural Emergency Hospital (REH). Originally constructed in 1950, the hospital had served its community for decades with dedication and resilience. This conversion and expansion will modernize the facility to meet new federal standards for rural emergency care, ensuring continued access to essential healthcare services in the North Country. The project includes a new Emergency Department and Diagnostic Imaging suite plus renovations for a new Physical Therapy Department, upgraded Clinical Lab and Pharmacy and new Administrative Suite.
The design embraces the rural character of the region while introducing modern systems, materials, and WELL Building inspired features that enhance comfort, safety, and efficiency. Enhanced daylighting, energy-efficient mechanical systems, and durable, low-maintenance finishes contribute to a healthy and sustainable environment for both patients and staff. The layout was reconfigured to streamline circulation, improve visibility, and support new care models consistent with the REH designation. By honoring its heritage while embracing innovation, the reimagined Clifton-Fine Hospital now stands as a forward-looking, resilient facility—ready to deliver high-quality emergency care and community health services for generations to come. The project is currently under construction with completion anticipated in early 2026.
